Roof Replacement in Denver
A new roof is one of the biggest investments you'll make in your home, and in Denver it has to stand up to hail, heavy snow, high winds and intense sun. Mountaintop Roofing & Solar replaces residential and commercial roofs across the Denver metro with quality materials, careful installation and clear communication from the first inspection to the final cleanup.
Signs it's time to replace your roof
- Age. Most asphalt shingle roofs last about 20–25 years. Colorado's weather often shortens that.
- Widespread hail or wind damage. When damage covers large areas of the roof, replacement is usually more cost-effective than patching.
- Leaks that keep coming back. Repeated repairs in different spots usually mean the whole roof is failing.
- Curling, cracking or missing shingles across multiple slopes.
- Heavy granule loss. Bald spots on shingles, or lots of grit in the gutters.
- Sagging or soft decking, a sign of long-term moisture damage.
Not sure? Start with a roof inspection. If a repair will do the job, we'll tell you.
Roofing materials we install
- Asphalt shingles. The most popular choice in Denver: affordable, available in many colors, and offered in impact-resistant (Class 4) versions that stand up better to hail. Learn more about shingle roofing.
- Metal roofing. Standing seam and stone-coated steel roofs last decades, shed snow well and handle hail. See metal roofing.
- Tile roofing. Clay and concrete tile for a distinctive look and long service life. See tile roofs.
- Flat roofing. TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen systems for low-slope and commercial roofs. See flat roofing.
Our roof replacement process
- Inspection and estimate. We inspect the whole roof, including decking, ventilation and flashing, and give you a detailed written estimate.
- Material selection. We help you choose the right material, style and color for your home and budget.
- Permits and scheduling. We always pull the required permits for roof replacements and schedule your installation.
- Tear-off and deck repair. We remove the old roofing down to the deck, and replace any rotted or damaged decking.
- Installation. New underlayment, ice and water shield in vulnerable areas, drip edge, flashing, ventilation and roofing, all installed to manufacturer specifications.
- Cleanup and final walkthrough. We haul away debris, sweep the property for nails with magnetic rollers, and walk through the finished roof with you.
Roof replacement and insurance claims
In Denver, many roof replacements are caused by hail. If a storm damaged your roof, your homeowners insurance may cover much of the replacement cost, minus your deductible. We document the damage with photos, provide a detailed estimate for your insurer, and help you understand your claim at every step.
Know your rights under Colorado law:
- A roofing contractor cannot pay, waive or rebate any part of your insurance deductible. Be wary of any company that offers to.
- If your insurer denies your claim in whole or in part, you have 72 hours after receiving written notice of the denial to cancel your roofing contract.
What affects the cost of a new roof?
- Roof size and pitch. Larger and steeper roofs take more material and labor.
- Material. Asphalt shingles cost the least. Metal and tile cost more upfront but last longer.
- Number of layers to remove and the condition of the decking underneath.
- Features. Chimneys, skylights, valleys and vents all add flashing and labor.
- Upgrades. Impact-resistant shingles, better underlayment and improved ventilation.
We give you a detailed, line-item estimate so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Roof replacement warranty
Every roof replacement from Mountaintop Roofing & Solar includes a 5-year workmanship warranty on our labor. Your roofing materials are also covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Coverage varies by product, from 30-year warranties up to 50-year limited lifetime warranties on premium shingle systems. We'll explain exactly which warranty comes with the roof you choose before work begins.
Planning solar?
If you're thinking about solar, the best time to install it is right after a new roof, so panels never have to be removed for a reroof. As a roofing and solar company, we can plan both together. See our solar installation services.
Roof replacement FAQs
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential replacements are completed in one to two days.
Do I need to be home during the replacement?
No, but we'll walk you through the plan before we start and do a final walkthrough with you when we're done.
Do you pull permits for roof replacements?
Yes. We always pull the required permits and handle the inspections, so your new roof meets local building codes.
Will insurance pay for a new roof?
If your roof was damaged by hail, wind or another covered event, your policy may cover the replacement, minus your deductible. Normal aging and wear usually aren't covered. We'll document the damage to support your claim.
What is a Class 4 shingle, and do I need one?
Class 4 is the highest impact rating for shingles, meaning they resisted damage in standardized hail-impact testing. In hail-prone Denver they can reduce future damage, and some insurers offer premium discounts for them. Ask your insurance agent.
Can you install a new roof over my old one?
We generally recommend a full tear-off. It lets us inspect and repair the decking, and many manufacturer warranties require it.
How long will my new roof last?
Asphalt shingles typically last 20–30 years, and metal and tile roofs often last 40–50 years or more, depending on the product and how it's maintained.
